Lent:
I have lent one packaged of original main gear to Tormod
I have lent one original Esky 1800 mAh battery to Tormod (he will try to discharge/charge on real charger to fix the sudden voltage drop)

Crash day :( Flew one battery, circles and figure eights in front of me. Got a bit to careless during first few minutes of second battery and crashed.

Broken parts: Rotors, Plastic part on feathering shaft, horizontal wing.

17.05.2008

Another windy day, I do some low hovering, and fiddling with the pitch curves to ease transition to Idle up. At 1m altitude, both main rotor blades suddenly flies off and the heli drops to the ground. No damage, but missing 1 special spacer.

REMEMBER TO USE LOCTITE ON FEATHERING SHAFT'''

Ordered Feathering shafts, bladeholder assy and flybar paddles from besthobbysite.

Rebuilt to use stock plastic head.

15.05.2008

Have moved the aerial. I do some light hovering, very heavy wind so i stay low. No glitches experienced.

13.05.2008

Heli has been rebuilt with changes:

  • Using 325 Pro instead of 315
  • Stock Servo Positioning instead of DTS
  • Aerial lead pulled back along the tail beam

Some light hovering to tune it properly. Doesnt notice any real difference in the servo placement. The 325 have much more lift than the 315, so i achieve liftoff closer to midstick

Experience two "glitches", First one "twitches" on the cyclic, second one cuts the engine for 0,5 sec or so.

I Talk to the guys on heliguy, and they tell me to move the aerial back to the landing skids.

Crash day! Was flying with Tormod and Tom Inge. New field, alot "smaller" than I'm used to. Tried an "O" in front of me, and lost control. Borken parts:

  • Main Frame
  • 2 x Align 315 Pro
  • Tail Boom
  • 1 x support strut for tail boom
  • Flybar
  • (Main shaft, feathering shaft, not checked yet)

Interestingly, the main frame broke exactly the placces i had modified (cut) it for the DTS mod. I will try normal mounting of servo's this time.

07.05.2008

Crash day! Was practicing nose in hover. Lost control and crashed. Only one of the main blades broke. Ive exchanged the blades, but now i need to order new blades again. Should probably order some align feathering shafts and main shafts as well.

Ordered new blades, trying 325 Pro this time, TRex feathering and main shafts, hopefully they will fit ok.

06.05.2008

The RC Shop replaced my Tx charger, and now i got my Tx charged again.

05.05.2008

I've now flown many batteries with no crashes or anything special to report. I still struggle with nose in, but can hover for about 30 secs while nose in. I also now fly much "longer trips" than before. However the charger for my Hitec Optic 6 Tx is no longer working ??

14.04.2008

Another battery flown today. Practiced a few controlled landings.

13.04.2008

Another battery flown today. Still amazed at how much easier it is to fly the heli now.

12.04.2008

First Flight after rebuild complete. Had to do some minor tuning on the tail servo to avoid excessive trimming Helicopter flew MUCH better than before the rebuild. I am not sure wich of the modifications that made it fly this much better, or if it is the sum of its parts. The throttle stick is set up very differently from what i had before (see #22 for setup). And this took some time to get used to.

  • #28 Some issues with the gyro not locking at certain RPM's. I need to look into this
  • #25 Main blades are not tracking properly, need to fix this.

No crash!

End result: Heli is much more responsive, Less stick use is needed, and it reacts sooner.

11.04.2008

Rebuild complete Things that have been done:

  • #24 Direct To Swash. I'm not sure that i like the results of this modification. See #24 for more info.
  • #22 and #23 Changed to Hitec Optic 6 Tx, Hitec Rx and Hitec 65MG servos
  • #29 CopterX 450 SE v2 Head and Tail
  • #30 Align 315 Pro Main rotor blades

Crash Today :( Flew on tarmac close to Byfjord Skole, passed a building corner, and sudden windgust hit the Chopper. It went into a dive, and hit with the rotors. Banged up abit, but not quite as severe as I initially thought. Brilliant opportunity to do DTS, Hitec Servos and Hitec TX

28.03.2008

Another flight on POL circuit today. A little wind, but not too bad. With less wind, the sluggish and "sudden" swash/cyclic is much more noticeable. I cannot see anything wrong when motors are not running, and links seems tight and normal. Might be interference on the servos, or just poor radio equipment. Getting more eager to do Direct to Swash mod, and to start using the Hitec Tx instead of the Esky one.

28.03.2008

DSC00252.JPG Second testflight, POL circuit. Very windy. I am still amazed of how stable the helicopter is even in wind. However the helicopter still feels "sluggish", and seems to have poor lift. No crash!!

27.03.2008

First testflight, Byfjord Skole. Very windy. Helicopter seems very stable, training gear functions great. Helicopter seems very "sluggish" though. I need large stick movements to be able to control it at all. Direct to Swash modification, better servos and better rotor blades seems like a good idea. No crash!!

26.03.2008

Built my training gear. Looks great!
